2020 Video - Questions & Answers
q. WHAT CAMERAS DO YOU USE?
a. We are a full-time production company, we also make television programs and corporate videos. We use the same equipment to film your wedding video.
For the technical of you we use Sony XDCAM EX range of cameras , which are the new generation of solid state HD digital cameras. We own and use the PMW-350 and the EX-3, using an external HD-SDI recorder (nanoflash) to obtain the highest possible picture quality and color information out of the camera.
q. WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
a. Apart from our broadcast cameras we also have high-end production and post-production equipment. For our cinematic packages we use SLR stills cameras (with various interchangeable lenses) to create that film-like look and portability. We then use tracking rails, steadi-cam equipment and even cranes to achieve truly amazing shots! We then use a suite of 8-core Mac Pro machines, equipped with Final Cut Studio and many, many other pieces of software specific in their tasks.
q. DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?
a. We offer discounts if you want to book us for multiple days, off-peak times of the week or year and also if you book us for your wedding photography of hair and make-up services. Email or ring us to discover if we can offer you money off your desired wedding package.
q. HOW MANY CAMERAMAN/CAMERAS WILL ATTEND MY WEDDING?
a. This all depends on the package you are booking. If you book the cinematic package a minimum of two staff and 3 cameras will attend you wedding and capture creative shots that will turn your wedding video into a cinematic film. However for the majority of our traditional films we only use one highly trained cameraman. All our videographers have many years experience in capturing the whole wedding day and can often catch what two cameramen from other companies miss! However you can book an extra camera &cameraman to be at your wedding day at a very reasonable rate. View our full blog on our equipment.
q. ARE YOU UNOBTRUSIVE?
a.One of the most common comments to us after the wedding day is how nobody really noticed us being there! The couple always find this amazing that we have captured every detail and have the best angles of the big moments yet nobody noticed! This is partly down to the fact that there is so much else going on that no-one really focuses their attention on us and partly down to our experience of being in position early so we don’t have to come charging in late, pushing people out of the way to get the shot! Obviously when we take along steadi-cam equipment and sometimes cranes this does get peoples attention yet also produces a completely different type of wedding film.
If you are booking the cinematic package and have a small wedding party then we may find it hard to be unobtrusive. We always let the day flow naturally only on rare occasions asking you to do something specifically for the camera. We believe your day is more than a wedding video and that it is our job to capture your special day for you to remember in the best possible way.
q. WHAT DO I GET WITH THE BASIC TRADITIONAL OPTION?
You will receive a high quality film of your event. A professional and experienced cameraman will in addition capture all those moments which are often missed by the Bride and Groom. With this option we will edit the opening of your film to music and titling until the start of the ceremony. From the ceremony the day will play out in full with the whole ceremony being filmed, any photographs being taken by the Photographer, all the speeches and depending on the hours you have chosen the evening guests arriving and some of the dancing. When booking the 7 hour option your finished film will typically last between 2-3 hours. With the basic traditional option you will still get a short highlight section of your day edited to a song of your choice.
q. WHAT DO I GET WITH THE PREMIUM EDIT OPTION?
With the premium edit option you will receive a short film fully edited lasting approximately one hour plus the complete unedited footage shot from the main camera. With the edit option you will typically have music running throughout the film and scenes will be moved and cut back for greater watchability and continuity. We would prefer to use the music of your choice but have a large selection of our own music which we can use if you prefer. As mentioned earlier we would typically shoot between 2-3 hours of film when attending for 7 hours so to cut this back to one hour seamlessly requires your film to be shot slightly differently so we will need to know beforehand when requiring this option.
q. CAN I CHANGE MY WEDDING FILM ONCE IT IS EDITED?
Yes, but only without cost with the cinematic option. If there is an obvious mistake in your film we will change this but we will, as a rule, never start editing until we have all the elements i.e. music, instructions in place first. The cinematic is a more bespoke service and we will send you a preview copy before a final edit is done. You can then make one series of changes within an agreed time period. Alternatively we will give you the opportunity to spend a day with us in our editing suite. You will be able to select the scenes you want to keep in and those you want to cut out. At the same time you can select the music you want and over what scenes you want it played.
